4/21/09: Busy with spring! Shows monthly at CT Rollerderby, plus getting ready for Bazaar Bizaare Maker Faire San Francisco May 30-31. Prior to that, will be at the Spring Craft Fair at The Space, Hamden, CT May 3rd from 9-3...more info to follow. Updated with new art yarn and batts! Will be attending Stitches East here in Hartford CT October 22-25 as a member of Indie Spun! Excited to do a big fiber show in my home state. More show dates to follow, and better product updates..here not just at shops around the country.

7/19/08: Updates! FINALLY! New section---'art yarn by a scientist' and 'lab batt kits'--see what I have been up to! Skull skirt has been restocked, and I am working on adding new totes plus potholders, pillows, etc. Check back often, the updates are coming fast and furious! I am also sending lots of yarn off to Wholly Craft in Columbus, OH so stop by for an in person look-see.
5/11/08: Sorry about lack of updates! Learning and creating and cleaning the studio, plus taking breaks to work on my disc golf game! Making soaps for disc golf and rollerderby---this weekend's opening bout of the Gotham Girls Roller Derby had 100 VIP bags with Crafty Scientist 'Rink Rash' soaps in them! AND the CT Rollergirls are getting them too for their finale bout of the year June 13th. If you need soap samples, drop me a note! I will be updating the shop with some new items in the next few weeks, so please check back or email me for details. Thank you for your patience and understanding!
12/12/07: Thanks, NY! Had a great time at the Bust Craftacular! Now I am getting ready to leave tomorrow morning for Bazaar Bizarre San Francisco! New items will be up on the site when I return---new favorites quilted pot holders (skulls! gnomes! sock monkeys!) and some other great stuff. Hectic year, will be taking time to experiment in the new year and traveling less for shows...little sleep over the last three years is catching up! Working on new items, will keep site better updated and stocked. Thanks to all of you---you are what keep me going late late into the night making fun stuff!

9/22/07: Back from Chicago! What a great show! Lots of items sold, and wonderful feedback! A great city that loves its DIY! 9/7/07: Getting ready for Renegade Chicago! Booth 42 if you are in the area--stop and say hello! Leaving the 13th for a 16 hr drive...but had time to add *new* beaker candles to the shop! TONS of new scents--Wasabi! Fudge Brownie! Pear! Lots more, stop by and check them out. When I return, new goodies will be stocked, I promise...

7/19/07: NEW items added! A roll top lunch tote in a sweet sushi print, plus an ever-popular skull patchwork pillow! I have added shipping to the price until the website update is complete with a 'shipping' function. I hate to do this, but blame the post office for crazy rates based on size not as much as weight! Great fun vending at the GHDGO last Saturday--Ams got 'funny munny' that they got to spend on cool stuff from the CS table as well as other vendors selling golf discs, but who could resist soaps like 'smells like disc golfer' and 'Tag 'Ho'? We donated small 'trial' sizes of these soaps (made from a hemp soap base) to all Am players packs---was a hit last year, so why not have this years' group smell good too? Pillows, bags and candles also sold, so thanks to all the golfers who support Team Crafty Scientist! What else is new at the Middletown Design Labs? Have been working on art-drawing and painting (may turn into fabric), working quite a bit at the day job, hanging with the fur kids, hiking, and working out--yes, the Crafty Scientist has a personal trainer and is on her way to getting back in shape! So far, at the two week mark, have a new workout and proudly down three pounds of FAT...this cuts down on late nights in the studio as I fall asleep earlier and sleep the sleep of the dead...a nice change! SO many ideas, so little time! Plan on some cool new stuff for fall and winter shows, and have a new tote style almost ready to unveil in the next week or so...Hope everyone is having a great summer as well! Support your local farmers' markets and eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies! Go Veg*an if you can!
7/13/07: It really pains me to do this, but I cannot offer free shipping any longer! The new system of 'size' vs weight is killing me--an order that used to cost under 5.00 to ship is now over 8.00 dollars! I am sorry to do this, but this change is in effect soon, as soon as I can get my e-cart changed over.
6/30/07: What's new here at the design lab? NEW fabric! TONS! I did a restock with fun new cat prints for mats, funky retro stuff for tool belts, and skulls and more skulls! (plus pretty and japanese fabric too.) I have new items locally at Tesoro, Main St, Middletown, CT and am keeping it close this summer after traveling: Rollerderby in July, and then fall and winter shows! I hope to stock up, make lots of new items, and do a little thing called relaxing between the jobs...also clean the old studio, office, and in general, CLEAN the clutter! I am too excited about the new fabrics, but will take a short break before I tackle too many new projects...will post fabrics soon so you can see the amazing stash I have to work with!

6/20/07: Finally! 3/23/07: Wow! Have been back from the West coast, but so little time to update anything--so busy making and working! Good times in Seattle and Portland, met some 'on line' friends in person and made new ones too. So- East Coast news! I will be tabling at some new items at the Boston Zine Fair along with CROQzine 3/24 from 10-6 PM(check it at http://www.bostonzinefair.org). New cool totes by Huck Design, made for the discerning zinester, plus new funky zip pouches and buttons too! Then , 4/1 marks the opening of not just CT Rollergirls, April fools day, but...The Crafty Scientist solo show at the Bloodroot Vegetarian Restaurant ALL month! Will have all new fun items, updated at least weekly. Plan on a great meal too! See http://www.bloodroot.com for hours, directions, and menus plus much more! 3/2/07: Packing and getting ready to go tomorrow early! 2 large boxes arrived safely in Seattle today, and more in my suitcase! The world premiere of 'Art Yarns by a Scientist' a small collection of super funky yarns with all manner of fiber, sequins, bits and pieces from the sewing studio...just for the west coast tour! When I return, lots of new items to post, I promise!! Orders placed now until March 11 will ship after the 12th...
2/11/07: Busy February! Design Lab in full swing, getting ready for my West Coast Tour! First, I Heart Rummage, at the Crocodile Cafe in Seattle, March 4, then vacation and a trip to Portland, Oregon to meet CROQ editor Heather, Button Arcade's Kyle, and to finish with Crafty Wonderland at the Doug Fir Lounge March 11! Then, red eye back home and back to work Monday afternoon.... A few new items! 'Rock and Rollerderby' tote, 'Studio Orange' pillow, and two new beaker candle fragrances---Peony and Lemongrass/ginger--yum! Smells like spring!
1/31/07: So much is going on! New Studio is operational, moved in officially last Wednesday! NEW items added made with newly 'found' fabrics and new design wall; two beautiful 12 x 16 inch pillows, which could be a set, but are sold individually--favorite Denyse Schmidt and Amy Butler prints with a turquoise and brown color palette. AND, a new skull zippy clutch, very funky and fun. New items photographed in the sunny warm studio too!! Check out my colors--orange, green, purple and light purple! It is so funky and cozy, I never want to leave..too bad no bathroom or kitchen! Exhausted with moving and organizing, but the new space is so open and wonderful, the new ideas are flowing fast, so I am trying to keep up without passing out from exhaustion! In belated news, our first episode of 'Uncommon Threads' aired Monday 1/29 on HGTV...haven't seen it yet, VCR taped something else that day... but I will update when the next one comes on, as it is about BAGS and alot of my bags get featured at the end, so stay tuned!
1/20/07: Things busy here at CS central--the new studio is almost complete, so moving in and organzing has begun! Also got a spinning wheel, and have been diverted making funky scarves out of art yarn from friends...mine not so great yet! Also, hand spinning, drawing, and generating new ideas for the shop...will be updating some new items shortly!
1/6/2007: More new stuff in the shop! A new 'pretty' patchwork pillow, new repurposed purse (a show favorite--placemat purse!) plus a new crafty tool belt! I aim to update a new item or two at least once per week now...New Year's Resolution!!
1/1/2007: Happy New Year! New items in stock, and will try to get more soon! January, the design lab is moving to a larger space, so it may not be so productive...but, my first solo show at the Bloodroot Restaurant is coming! April 1st opening, all month!! Come shop and eat delicious vegetarian and vegan food!! I may also be going west coast in March, stay tuned for possible shows!
12/17/06: Thanks Boston! What a great Baz Biz! Raised $50.00 for the Cause for Paws kitties, and I just gave them a check for $158.00 last week, from Sept-November! 9/11/06: Almost fall, and new items in! Very inspired by different materials, and many new products on the way! Check out new 'repurposed purses' made from alternative materials (placemats and napkins never looked so cool!), and new 'crazy quilted' pillows made from old t-shirts! Funky, functional and oh-so-soft! Also will have new 'Crafty Tool Belts' made partially from old T-shirts too....great material to work with, the possibilities are endless! I am addicted to Project Runway, so I am truly inspired and challenged and have so many ideas--just need time to make them all! 7/17/2006: Back from Artbeat! Thanks, Boston, we raised over $60.00 for the kitties with cat toys and mat sales!!! (great, since Cause for Paws has lots of new clients looking for homes and they need care, shots, etc). Plus, it was great to see my fellow New England Artisans, meet new ones, and meet and greet customers and fellow scientists! It is great to meet folks who already know you from your site, etc. Tomorrow I will be updating the site with new mat styles, skirts, pillows, bags, etc...but since I am awful at updating, please contact me if there is something you would like---I either have it or can make it for you!
